Our Parish

St Joseph's Catholic Parish was established in Upminster in 1923, and the present church, located on Champion Road in the centre of Upminster, was built in 1939.

We aim to be a friendly, welcoming community. The church is open as a place for quiet prayer and reflection each day. All are welcome to join us for worship and other events; you are encouraged to explore this website and read our weekly newsletter to find out more.

Our parish covers a large area extending well beyond the town of Upminster, including the villages of Cranham, North Ockenden, West Horndon and Bulphan. We do, of course, welcome people from outside the geographical parish as well and are not in competition with our neighbouring parishes!

We are part of the Havering Deanery, which broadly corresponds with the London Borough of Havering, and we belong to the Diocese of Brentwood, covering the historic county of Essex, i.e. present-day Essex and the five London Boroughs of Newham, Waltham Forest, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge and Havering.

As well as the church, our parish includes schools, and a social centre.

Within this section you can find out a little more about our parish team, our history and our plans for the future. Visit the Faith and Life section to learn more about what we believe and how our faith is lived as a parish community.
